Sally Bowman, MEd, RDN, CSSD, LDN is a graduate of the University of Texas. Sally completed the Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics in 1985 and her Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Fitness in 1989.
Sally has practiced as a dietitian in a variety of settings such as spas, fitness clubs/wellness centers, colleges and private practice. She has served as a consulting sports dietitian for the athletics department at the University of Texas since 2003 where she is able to combine her love for sports with her keen interest in performance nutrition. Sally is one of a select number of registered dietitians in the U.S. to be board certified as a sports dietitian (CSSD). She also specializes in weight control, eating disorders, cardiovascular and digestive nutrition issues. Sally has a special interest in the use of foods and supplements in helping the body heal from illness and maximizing energy levels.
Sally is very motivated to stay current with advanced nutrition training in each of the following specialty areas: sports nutrition, eating disorders, food sensitivities (she is a certified LEAP therapist, CLT), and functional/integrative nutrition. She has completed a certificate of training in integrative and functional nutrition from the IFNA Academy in 2016.
Sally is a native Austinite, she attended Westlake High School where she was the 4A State Singles Tennis Champion. Sally also played on the University of Texas Tennis team. Currently, she enjoys playing golf, traveling and dining out at Austin’s many fun restaurants. Sally’s extensive experience allows her to look at all aspects of her client’s life and adjust their diets to give them their winning combination. Sally was a consultant dietitian with Central Texas Nutrition Consultants for 20 years before starting her own private practice in Austin in June 2016.
Laura Ward Gruber, RDN., L.D. has a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Byrine F. Lewis School of Health Professionals at Georgia State University in Atlanta and a BBA from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
Her keen interest in nutrition, health and passion for cooking led her to pursue a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Laura started her career in nutrition working with cancer patients and cancer survivors. She has worked in hospital settings with intensive care patients, as well as, outpatient cardiac rehabilitation and diabetic counseling. Prior to joining Central Texas Nutrition Consultants, she was the nutritionist at The Hills Fitness Center. She has been in private practice for 10 years and an RDN for 20 years. The focus of Laura’s practice has been with patients struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating. She has taken several classes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training helping her to encourage her ED patients make wise mind decisions. She will always work with ED clients but has broadened her scope of practice to include adverse food reactions.
She is a Certified LEAP Therapist and can order the MRT Test and can guide her patients through the process of navigating adverse food and chemical reactions. Laura has completed the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy’s Certificate of Training enhancing her knowledge of gut health, brain health, cardiometabolic health and cancer prevention. For patients wanting general health and wellness benchmarks she can order the Spectracell Micronutrient Test, which determines nutritional deficiencies of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Laura does enjoy cooking and is creative helping clients come up with ideas for various meal plans for their food sensitivities and medical needs. She has raised two daughters and has developed many quick and nutritious recipes that she enjoys sharing with her clients.
